Holding Her Own

She stood on the thin bar. Arms outstretched. Looking. Concentrating. Keeping her balance. One foot moved rhythmically in front of the other. The smile on her face, pinched a little in concentration, was wide. Her arms fluidly stretched straight out, held up, her body looked like a T. Legs, fluidly moved her across the thin bar. Like water over rock. Smooth flowing. Breath in the audience was held. It was the closing moment. The execution was now.

A leap.

Flipping fluidly through the air. Time and space suspend. Landing firmly, with two feet together, knees slightly bent. Smile wide! Wide enough to break. Perfect landing.

The roar of applause.

The announcement. The winner.

The moment were all the work, training, and dedication. Early hours. Late nights. Heat and ice. Melt away.

For it all pays. She made it.

As she knew she would.
