The Warm November Sun

November sun.

Cast your warmth on us.

Let us hold your rays within.

Warm us. Prepare us for the colder,

shorter days of winter. Hold us

in your clear warm embrace.

Sparkling rays lick our face.

as we go about our days.

Knowing you will set quickly in evening

to rise swiftly in golden glory tomorrow.

Holding promises of crisp warm moments.

While we sip our pumpkin spiced drinks.

Laughing at memories we are making

in the leaf piles and festivals which are on hold this year.

Yet if we listen closely in the streets we will hear the echos

of festive memories dance along. Holding space for the

days when we, too, can come together building new

festive memories. Promises of days to come in your warm

sparkling sun.

Seems the door of winter cracked open

freezing the dew overnight.

I must confess, it’s quite pretty.

A welcome sight among the colored leaves

like drizzled, dusted, sugar coated confections

for the eyes to feast.

Even better when the weather is forecasted to be warmer

throughout the week. Enjoy the beauty before it melts

creating more beauty as the leaves fall silently to the ground

like confetti tossed around. Messy as glitter during a child’s crafting.

But oh so beautiful in the same way. Ah,

the complexities of it all. Simply makes it glorious today.

Frosty And Frozen

Skipping out the door.

Gloves and hats galore.

Is it time for Christmas? They, emplore.

No, it’s still fall,

autumn to you all.

Oh, then why so frosty, y’all?

Because it happens at times.

The world freezes over in rhymes.

It becomes something sublime.

Perfect for hot chocolate,

And excuses for bring late.

Not very useful. But wait!

Maybe we could celebrate.

You missed the rhyming scheme.

Well, excuse me.

What’s one extra line?

It’ll be fine.

You’ll see in time.

Okay, but what about the frozen, frosty autumn?

Yes! I think I slipped and forgotten.

Maybe we could start over?

If we must. I’d rather have a warm turnover,

and more hot chocolate.

You coming with?
